Re: Billet grille

check this out:
customminatures did something like that

for a scratchbuilt billet grill it looks decent. I'm amazed that no one makes like a photoetched billet grill or something out of chrome coated plastic. Someone probally does but i've never seen em.

BTW... did you get my e-mail?

Re: Billet grille

ya that looks like what i want to achieve. can you tell me how you did it? The Model Car Garage makes billet kits for fullsize fords and chevys but no mini stuff.

sorry bro didn't get it. did you send it to my personal e-mail or PM me?

Re: Billet grille

gonna look sweet! all i did wa take a thin, very rigid wire"piano wire" and cut 3 for vertical pieces and a milloin for the horizontal pieces. glue em on the 3 vert pieces, places behind bumper and traces hole size onto the new grill. now cut to size! hope it helps! weird to see people use my stuff for examples!

i guess i could do a how to tut. dont know many people on here into minis tho! hit me up if u have more questions!------matt

Re: Billet grille

thanks for the tip. i had actually thought of doing something like that with some wire. i still may go that route, but i am going to see what The Model Car Garage parts look like. if i don't like them i can use them on some of the fullsize trucks i have instead.

First distracted by the girl, but I have an idea. I have to make a grill like that for my Hot Rod. You could use .020 or .015 styrene.

Re: Billet grille

i dont know if it will help you, but check out this intercooler how-to from the how-to depository, they may look close enough to what you want to do. just get some styrene and paint it silver and wash it w/ some flat black..

That's funny, i asked the same question about billet grilles a couple weeks ago on another message board. Yesterday I saw MCG's new products, and they have some need "speed grille" type of stuff that I might try to use instead of fabricating a grille. Check out the first 10 or so pics in tis album to see what I'm talking about:

Good luck with it, and let us know what you decide!
