Question 2000 ford excursion Price...

Hey everyone.
Hope yall are all doing good.

Ok heres whats up...

I was told this truck had been setting for about a year.

My friend has a 2000 ford excursion black 4 door 5.4 Triton.
Verry verry big and nice...
It needs work and it has some dents and dings....No wrose then what i have now -2000 ford explore sport 4.0- with dents and dings

My question is what are things i should look for??
I know to check the tires for lineament problems.

The engine seems good NO SMOKE BUT HAS 211k on it!!!!????
also when you 1st start it you can here what sound like valve clattering BUT THE SOUND IS COMING FROM SOME WARE UNDER THE ENGINE -im thinking a rod or oil pump-

The best way i know to describe the sound is valve clatter or pully or bearing sound.

The truck holds good oil pressure. gauge was in the middle between high and low
The sound goes away after running for about a min.
The sound does not get worse when reving.
If i put it in D and hold the brake and push the gas the sound does not change.

I did not get alote of time to check the truck out but i will tomorrow.
I would like some ideas on what this sound could be .
What price range I should be thinking about .
and what are the cons or major problems with these trucks?
O it said it had been getting 7.1 mpg avg UMMM wtf???

Thanks for yalls time. GOD BLESS and support our troops...THANKS

Sounds as if it needs a good oil change. It could be low, dirty and also have a lot of water and or condensation in it. Not good for lubricating. As for the mpg 7.1, that is consistent with Excursions. More than likely why your friend parked it. I would offer him no more than $2000 for it.
