they were both newer...
but hell, if you are buyin a car, its not for the back seat... i dont care if it has one... im not ever in it!!! well, um, yeah, so... and im tall, so backseats suck at all... but i guess, no one on this board is really worry about the backseat space... and arent the gti and a4 similar weights? that is the other factor i look at more than power or anything, b/c heavy cars suck. |

Headroom - front (in.) 38.2 38.6 Headroom - rear (in.) 36.9 37.4 Legroom - front (in.) 41.3 41.5 Legroom - rear (in.) 33.4 33.5 But you are right leave that for the passenger to think about. |

A4 GTI
Length (in.) 178 164.9 Wheelbase (in.) 103 98.9 Difference between 1.8T of A4 and GTI is 50 lbs. Difference between 2.8 and VR6 is 250 lbs. That's why I said hatchback design is more efficient in giving interior room. |
