I've so far been very disappointed with the RX-8, when I first thought about getting a new car the RX-8 was on the top of my list. Yet after test driving one and a regular WRX, I was surprised that the WRX felt faster. Also at the track so far this year, I have seen three RX-8s, and have yet to see one crack the 14s. Not saying the car can't do it, just must be a difficult car to drag race. Guess it wasn't made for that, but what was very dissapointing is the last one I saw, it got the launch on a Civic and going to around 330FT, the RX-8 had about a car and a half, but the Civic pulled it in and beat the RX-8 by about 2 cars (14.4 to 15.8) this to me is also an indication of top end power, which I believe the RX-8 also lacks. Beautiful car though, but I really hope Mazda gives that car a much needed Turbo.

Re: $27,000 ($5,000 down), which would you have?

i know you want a 99 or newer. but i'm going to sugest it non the less. what about a 97 supra. there's a car that will do 11's. and about as rare as they come (at least in ohio, i can't remember the last time i saw one). a lot of people get those into the hi 600 whp's. i'd go for that or a vr4. the evo, sti, srt are already pumped up with about as much boost as they can handle (not saying it's impossible, just a lot more expensive to get to 11's). a vr4 or supra has a lot of room to grow.

I see what your saying and a Supra Twin Turbo would be nice, but in Southern California where I live I see alot, and The Supra Twin Turbo prices here are still going for well over $30,000. Still it would be nice, but I'm a mitsubishi fan and I love AWD. Actually the EVO is very cheap to modify, and many are hitting 11s on stock turbos and no nos. Just a Vishnu Stage 1+ upgrade ($2,400) has these cars hitting low 12s, I know this because I have witnessed this in person. The Supra is also an awesome car to modify, but parts are very expsensive, but if I had the money it would be amazing to hit 800WHP, don't think the EVO would ever come close to hitting 800WHP, still I wouldn't mind a 500-600AWHP EVO that hits 11s and 10s and is street legal.

I guess because most people are very aware of the EVOs capabilities by now. I think seeing an EVO hit 11s or run fast times at a race course would not be very surprising.

I would say G35 because you get the prestige the luxury, the good looks and its a fast car. And remember this is the american version of the skyline.

Re: $27,000 ($5,000 down), which would you have?

I own a G35.. If you ask me its the only car in here that earns its price tag. Its alot nicer of a car than any of the others mentioned.. If a bit slower. But the difference in speed isnt enough to make me lose the drastic difference in comfort and luxury. I picked the G35 over a 70 grand BMW if that tells you anything.

Damnit, I completely missed the Evo on the poll and voted for the VR4. Anyhow, it was a close call for me between the VR4 and the SRT-4, but I had to go with the VR4 since the SRT-4 can be had new for $21,000. Also, had I know the Evo was on the poll I would have gone for that.
