1987 Shelby CSX (Daytona)
Just picked up a 87' Shelby CSX for 600bucks! From some old people that obviously didnt know much about it. It sat for a while and i put some minor work into it. But the car runs great!
My question is, what are some easy mods to do to this car to make it faster? And also the tranny desperatly needs a fluid change. What is the best stuff to put in the car? I hear Redline is a good tranny fluid but has anyone run it in there Shelby CSX? Any info at all on the car would be much appreciated. Thanks ! BTW. Its a manual transmission. PS. Dont mind my screen name, that was my old beater...haha Also own a 1999 VW Passat 1.8T with alot of mods. |

Re: 1987 Shelby CSX (Daytona)
Congrats on the score, $600 is a steal for any numbered car.
If you want some help with your new ride try www.turbododge.com What number is your CSX? Does it have the Centurian wheels, Shelby valve cover, ground effects, and Shelby steering wheel? BTW, the CSX has nothing to do with the Daytona. There were Shelby Daytonas but Carroll Shelby never owned any of them as none were numbered cars.

its #418. Its a fast car for a 87. I actually just drained the tranny fluid and didnt follow the directions. I guess your supposed to suction it out. Instead i just drained it, and one of the seals broke. Any good write ups on tranny pan?

well 600 bucks they basically gave you that car! That is a amazing car if you take care of it, she'll take care of you whether its daily driving or racing that car is a ballzy leightweight machine, with the right things done to it it will own just about anything, here are some sites you can check out, www.thedodgegarage.com , www.allpar.com , and of course www.turbododge.com but if you want better info on these go to the dodge shadow, duster, etc forums in AF. Wish i could tell ya more but if ya find another, let me know thanks

Re: 1987 Shelby CSX (Daytona)
I've got a first gen Talon BOV in the 89 CSX-VNT and it sound pretty nice.
You can also swap out the T2 intercooler for an NPR cooler for more hp. A stage two computer will get you a couple extra pounds of boost. Adding a fifth injector is pretty simple as is a bleed. My buddy used to own a 87 CSX and it was pretty quick.
