Funny Noise - Any Ideas?

I have heard an odd noise in my Corsa recently. (It has just had an MOT and the brakes were checked).

It happens mostly when I am accelerating and the best way to describe it is like a metally scraping. It just sounds 'dry'. (There is sufficient oil and water in all the correct places). My uncle knows a bit about cars but he lives hundreds of miles away - when I visited last he checked my brakes (all fine) and looked under the bonnet.

This has been happening on and off for weeks but the minute I took him out in the car - the noise stopped! So, he hasn't actually heard it!

Has anyone had this happen and know what it could be.
He seems to think that it could be the gear box or clutch - but why would this noise occur when accelerating if it were either of those things.

HELP before I have to pay money I don't have to let a garage look at it.

I had a similar problem, appeared to come from the wheal, every time i took it to the garage or the place i got it from i took them in it for a drive and the sound did not happen. However i got used to it and it just went away lol not recommended in your case though. Best bet is to let it get worse and take it to somewhere professional to get it at least located, if too pricey then get parts else where.

my corsa is a yr old and does exactly the same did u get this issue resolved each time i go to garage it doesnt happen
