Exclamation think i got a lemon....

ok, well u all have helped me before, and now more stuff is going wrong. my 99 SL ran great all summer into the fall until i had my timing belt etc changed, and it seems like since then everything has been going bad... first with the head gasket problem, now it looks to me like my 1st - 2nd syncros are dieing if not even dead and my reverse dont work great, and i might have clutch problems ......... think the last owner abused it? should i just sell out now and get another one? or is this normal? bear in mind the car only ahs 135k miles and i personally dont hot rod it. thnx for replys

Re: think i got a lemon....

what symptoms does your clutch have? Checked fluid? do the SLs have an adjustable pedal like the VR4s?

Re: think i got a lemon....

um it jitters really quite badly when u let it out, all fluids are fine, my mechanic said it might have air in the lines or just need a new clutch all together. i couldnt tell u if its adjustable i really dont know. the clutch only has 5000 miles on it.

Re: think i got a lemon....

well i own a 97 with roughly 110,000 on it and my slave cylinder went out on it at 95,000 then my syncro have been bad since the day i purchased it at 89,000 miles. when i come to a complete stop at a light sometimes it won't go into first and i have to force it in and my reverse won't go in sometimes either.... i have read a few threads that say syncros are a common problem for manual 3000gt's

Re: think i got a lemon....

my stealth gives me the same issues, only add that it stalls going from R to 1st. that's y i have a 2nd car.

when i let off the clutch it's bumpy most of the time, but that's because mine is probably hanging on by the final "nerve". i'd say go to a mechanic that u really trust and get his opinion. or if u know somebody who knows manuals real well, have the drive it thru the gears. see what they say
