The only evos that are eligible for importation are the LHD EVO 7 and 8.and to purchase them you have to go through evolution imports for that.like if you want a skyline u need to go through Motorape i mean Motorex.WWW.EvolutionImports.Net

if you're looking for a cheap way to do this, forget it. yeah the evo's are dirt cheap in japan, but even the VIN swap method will cost you the price of a salvaged mirage. and the obvious RHD to LHD swap you'd have to do (the DMV people are stupid, but not that stupid). you have to swap the firewall too. importing any car requires alot of research, time, money and continued investment (flying in parts). unless you're ready to put in the effort (and dough) save yourself the heartache and just buy something here you can afford.
i used to drive a street legal 6, and the only way i could was it had a MFG plate on it |

MFG is manufacturer's plate. the car belonged to mitsubishi motor sales USA so they could slap one of their plates on it and drive it without any DOT or EPA. but the catch is its here on a temporarly import bond so it 1) needs to eventually leave the country or 2) must be crushed. i used to do PR for them. i think its still in their fleet but they could never sell it to anyone in the USA.
