Re: rear wheel drive daytona
Direct Connection/Mopar Performance used to sorta-kinda support the Daytona RWD conversion. They sold a kit, but it was far from a drop in. I can't remember exactly what it was, but something along the lines of motor and transmission mounts, and that was about it. You are pretty much on your own for fabricating the rear suspension and installation of the rear axle. I believe a small-block with 727 or 904 automatic transmission were the intended transplants. If I recall correctly, the firewall needed to be banged in a little but nothing major; probably the stock radiator supports removed and new ones welded in. I imagine you'd have to beef up the front springs to handle the additional weight. Motor and tranny mounts, custom driveshaft, custom axles and axle housing. Interior would be limited to an floor-mounted shifter; it seems like you'd need a driveshaft tunnel but I don't remember it being mentioned.
All in all it wasn't supposed to be that hard, as conversions go. The product was supposed to be stock-appearing and driveable on the street. I believe one of the Mopar magazines did a little article about the switch in the late 80's..maybe you could look up reprints. Or maybe try the Shelby Dodge mailing list; they are Shelby-specific but may be able to point you in the right direction. Or, really out there, look up the RWD Daytona drag cars on Ebay right now; e-mail the owners and get some details. I assume the drag cars are full tube chassis, but I really haven't looked at them that close. Good luck, Bill |

Dont bother with it, not worth your time, im assuming your daytonas turbo, if so, keep it FWD turbo. for like $2,500 into it you can have them running 11's
