2pack candy painting

I am going to paint my sons car in 2 pack One step candy apple spray paint soon ( Colour - Coke Red )
The base paint is a black colour ( Paint Brand - Spies Hecker & Coke Red Candy is Spray Chief )
I want to know one if I can spray the 2 pack base colour before the candy and rub it back a bit to get out any peel before I lay the candy on and then the clear.
Also can I spray the doors boot and bonnet off the car with the amont of coats of paint without any colour problems when the cars all together

Re: 2pack candy painting

I use PPG so I am not familiar with Spies Heker paint, but I would not recommend sanding or buffing your base coat. If you have a problem, run or dirt, you may work that out and re-spray that area, but not the whole car.

As far as the candy coat, It can be very difficult. I would try to spray as much of that together as I could. You may also consider painting the whole side at one time, as apposed to panel-by-panel. Painting panel-by-panel will result in a different color on your panel edges. Candys can be very difficult. If you can spray the pieces off the car with the same overlap and distance you may be alright.

After you clear your car is when you can sand and buff your car to level your orange peel. This paint is different than the lacquer that we used to rub out between coats.
