99 problem with trailer lights
I have factory installed towing package with an aftermarket installed electronic trailer brake controller. Everything worked fine for three years, and then I blew the right turn signal trailer fuse. I replaced the fuse. Now when I connect trailer and lights the dash and radio blink with the turn signal. When I step on the brakes, everything goes dim and the signals don't blink. Also, five weeks ago I had to pull the 60-amp abs fuse since the pump motor would not stop running. I haven’t fixed this yet, and I know that Gavin Curtins has a fix. Could the disconnected abs be the problem or is there something else?

First you need to find why the turn fuse blew...you may have a bulb that is shorted internally causing a feedback condition on the circuit.
Also if this problem occurred the same time you removed the 60amp ABS fuse, that fuse may have been a power source for other circuits (I dont have my schematics handy to check that fact)

GMMerlin:
Thanks for the post. I will look into the bulb issue. The ABS failed and the 60-amp fuse was removed with no trailer attached. |
