new found fun with new rear sprocket

just got my new 44 tooth rear sprocket.

soooooooo much fun now.

already went down 1 on the front (16 down to 15) and now 2 up on the rear (44 from 42)

i was going 180k's and snapped the thottle on and she bucked and kicked before she lifted the front.

acceleration is PHENOMENAL.

with the original gearing she had a flat spot at about 3200RPM. which really sucked in the take off and cornering department.

then with the 15 on the front, the corners got sorted but the take off still suffered slightly.

now, woo fu%^in hoo. no bog down, just pure f'in adrenalin rush from the get go.

still trying to get a line up against a new litre bike for a comparison.

no-one wants to play

Re: new found fun with new rear sprocket

Hey Aussie, SICK! wish i could get my bike to do that. I just got a new rear too 43, off an R1, they are the same. Factory is 38 for my bike, but i have had a 40 on it in the past. I am already running 2 down on the front. Hopefully it will make a big change as i am geting a bit bored with the peformance.

Re: new found fun with new rear sprocket

I just got a new rear tyre as well, its an arowmax 501, i had the same tyre before and for $149 Au, good tread patten and good in the dry & wet who can complain.
I am also geting the carbs rebuilt in a couple of days and syncronized. I am then geting some custom plug leads made up for me by ICE ignisions, hopefully with all this done she will be a different bike.

of course not, pocketbikes aren't literbikes, leave those kids alone! try to compete with a 125 or something.

another reason why Honda is slow... I mean shouldn't open class bikes dish out power everywhere, enough to back off from spinning the wheel? tsk tsk tsk.

truly,

sv 'phut phut' owner.

anyway, good stuff. may be I'll rent a fairyblade one day and pull a mono, I hear it likes it.

Fairyblade! Fairyblade!

good thing your on the otherside of the world or i'd have to come round to your joint and poke my tongue out at you

psst i got a little secret for you. SV stands for sucks vomit

as for stalling the honda, theres a switch attached to the side stand. when you put it in gear with the stand down it will cut the ignition. don't worry you'll get the hang of it one day. keep trying tiger

shit man thats a huge difference.
2 down on the front = 6 up on the rear

using a speedo healer calculator thats a 37% error on the speedo.
(estimated 17 front stock down to a 15)
gotta hope its not gearbox driven or your odometers gunna be shitloads out.

what's it like changing gears so often?

are you running a 530 chain or a 520?

does running 2 down allow the chain to drag on the swingarm near the pivot?

No, speedo cable runs to front wheel, no the chain does not hit the swingarm and for the changing gears dont know yet cos i havent put the bike back together yet.
I already had the front sproket on before no probs, before it was a little quick through the gears so that might be a problem, but ive still got my stock front sproket so if its to much i will put it back on.
Ive just bought a new chain and its a 530.

The speedo cable broke about 12 months ago anyway, i got a new one but didnt bother puting it on to keep the Ks down, its only done 16,600 on the clock and for an 85 mdl thats near unherd of.
And yes the Ks were gen when i got it, it had origanal sprokets and practiclly no ware on the disc rotors or sprokets.
And it 5 up on the rear i hope it goes better.

I just rebuilt the carbs my self it was going to cost too much to get them done for me. I had to get some second hand parts though they were going to charge me $225 (AU) each for diaphram and slides (which are one pice) i needed 2 of them (wich was causing only 2 of 4 cyls to get fuel) and it was flooding too, i checked all my flotes for leacks, and also checked my levels all ok, so then i checked if my needels were shuting off and they were.

I thought it can only be shit in the carbs so i blew all my jets and fuel inlets out with a compressor and cleaned the carbs with fuel.
Dont know if it has fixed the problem yet, im puting them on tomorow i really hope it fixes the prob cos i havent got any more money to spend as my car is of the road too and i am spending the rest of it to fix the diff (Lexus soarer).
