Saginaw 4 Speed Rebuild

Hey to the classic car guys,

What is a fair quote on a shop pulling, rebuilding, and putting a saginaw 4 speed transmission back in to a classic?

I have seen very cheap quotes on forums from years ago, but quotes I am getting now are much higher.

Thank you for any knowledge you can give.

I think it would depend on what car it has to come out of, what is wrong with the unit and labor rates in your area.

Re: Saginaw 4 Speed Rebuild

Thanks for replying,

Looks like labor rates are around $120 in my area. It is coming out of a 1975 Pontiac Firebird Formula. I have actually got some info that it may be a T-10 not a saginaw like some were saying. Anyways it is a classic 4 speed transmission, and it is going for a complete rebuild, as the syncros are going out, and 4th is popping out of gear. Ive seen prices from a few years ago in the hundreds, but I have been quoted from at least $1600.
