2001 caravelle 2.5 tdi Auto

got a small problem with the gear box after an hour and half run out today the gearbox seamed to get stuck in 2nd gear ,read on an other post about fitting a better fuild cooler . where is this unit , also said about dropping fuild and putting VW stuff in could this be the problem.

any help would be great as i dont know much about VWs only had this one 2 weeks now

update on the auto box
dropped the oil today . only got 500ml out of the box . vw says fill up with 3 lts of oil .
so i was missing 2.5 lts of oil . could this have been the problem , lack of oil
low oil not being cooled by the oil cooler, overheating coused by low oil pressure ,causing clutch not to work correctly

only time will tell . i will update as time goses by
