accually, it doesn't really matter is u use a rwd car or a fwd car but its alot easier with a rwd car. i learned with a 88 honda crx si that is one of the best fwd cars to be drifting with cause u can snap it around corners and not having to worry about spinning out because of its short wheel base. the best places to drift are usually not around public places ie. i learn at a truck driving school after hours so it has a perfect race track with all types of obsticals. but if the parking lot is ur thing then go for it just be smart and pic one with no poles/collums. one technique with the front wheel drive car is to come into a corner close to the apex then downshift sometimes featuring the clutch to break the back end loose.
also one other thing i seemed to notice was u can drift alot faster with front wheel drive. the fastest drift with a front wheel drive i did wuz in a 01 pontiac sunfire went into the drift at about 100 mph and exited at about 70mph.
one other note is if u hear ur tires squeal ur slowing down fast but... we all know it sounds sweet!
