$14,000 For a new (used) car..
Ok, Im 16 and I've been looking for cars for awhile now and I can't decide what to get. I have 14g and want a fun, reliable, and relatively fast car with under 60k miles. Also, should I get a FWD, RWD, or does it really matter? I don't plan on modding it in the near future or anything either. I was looking at wrx's but dislike how they look. Thanks for the suggestions.

RWD is better for speed than FWD because of a number of reasons such as the weight transfer to the rear during acceleration, and the strain that is put on the front wheels during cornering (in a FWD car). Are you going to pay for insurance or will your parents cover that? Because if you pay for the insurance you'll want to set aside a sizeable amount for that. Also, how do you feel about safety, is it a major concern? How much space fo you need in the car? How many passengers will you be caring? How much speed do you need? After you have answered thos questions I think we will be able to better help you.

if you like the wrx, but not the bumpy body, maybe you should look into a 2.5 rs impreza. simmilar performance and tunability without all the weird body styleing. you could probably find one used for under $14k.

Re: $14,000 For a new (used) car..
My parents are paying for insurance, but they obviously arn't going to pay a large ammount every month, so it has to be reasonable. Safty is a concern with them as well. I don't need too much space and i'll only be taking a few friends here and there. I want a car thats relatively fast and fun. Any suggestions?

Re: $14,000 For a new (used) car..
You should go test drive some cars first. You may like the way one car looks even though it may be FWD or RWD or the way it drives and vice versa. You get the idea.
Also, you have to consider things such as warranties and repairs. If you buy a nice new (used) car that is fun and sporty but then the clutch goes out and you have to pay for it, depending on the model you may be in a tight spot. Another thing to consider is whether you prefer manual or automatic. Domestic or Import. There are tons of factors depending on how particular you are...

Ok, for your first car, DO NOT get something nice and fast and expensive...If I were you, get a nice, sporty car for say....5 g's. Learn the do's and don'ts of driving with that for a few years, and save/invest the rest of your money. But then again, I didn't have that kind of $ to spend on a car at 16 and I would prolly would've wanted to get a Vette or something....lol

Well, I have 5g's saved up and my parents said they'll pay the rest but I have to pay them back by working through highschool/college.

Re: $14,000 For a new (used) car..
Acura RSX-S(200HP)
Nissan Sentra SE-R(170 HP) Nissan Maxima(190 HP) Nissan Altima(3.5)(Not sure HP but quick) Toyota Celica Gt-S(180 HP) Honda Prelude(Not sure, great handling) Audi A4(1.8T has 180 HP, AWD) VW Golf (Depends on model, easily tuneable) 2000+Mitsu Eclipse GT/GT-S(200/205 HP) I was just considering buying a car for about 13-16G myself and those were some that I was looking at. If none of those tickle your fancy, let me know and I can probably come up with some more.
