Anyone ever try this?

Has anyone ever tried putting 6 x 9 speakers into their front doors? I just bought some infinity speakers but the ones in the back are pretty good, is it worth it with a little bit of cutting to fit them in the front?

Re: Anyone ever try this?

If you want to put Infinity speakers, just put the 6 1/2's component speakers. Those will sound better than the 6 X 9's. Then you can put the 6 X 9's at the rear.

indeed.

6x9's in the front doors would probably sound not-so-good, mostly because the volume of the doors isn't big enough for the enlarged woofer area, and most 6x9's would be too deep for the doors anyway.

component speakers are GOOD, because you can put your highs up where you can get some decent spacial reference out of them.

^^ what he said. I just can't see how those 6x9s would be getting the airspace they need in doorpanels. That and I hate 6x9s, haven't come across a 6x9 that actually sounds good.

Alright, so now it's the choice which ones to put in the back, I have 6 x 9 Sony X-Plodes and Infinity 6953i's. I have 6 1/2 Pioneers in the front right now, which I just put in last month, but for some reason they sound like shit compared to what the X-plodes put out.

Re: Anyone ever try this?

The component speakers for Infinity, 6 1/2's arent that expensive. Use those and the 6X9's you have. With the right deck and if you connect those to a good powered amplifier, it should work out fine. Then just use a separate amp for your subs.

are we talking about bass output? 6.5" speakers will not be able to put out the same kind of bass that a 6x9 can, but IMO they sure as hell do sound a lot cleaner. If you want bass invest in a subwoofer and amp. This is all speculation on my part of course.

Didn't even hook anything up yet and the pioneer sounded like I was putting too much on them.

This is what I have. Could someone suggest the best setup?

Pioneer 2500 DEH Deck
MTX Thunder 801D Amp
Pioneer GM-X962 Amplifier
Infinity 1200 W Sub in Q-Logic Box
Cerwin Vega 6 1/2 200 Watt
Pioneer 6 1/2 200 Watt
Sony X-Plode 300 Watt 3 Way 6 x 9
Infinity 6953i 6x9 3-Way

I have pretty much all the cables need to wire up 4 speakers an amp and a sub.

Out of those few things, what would be the best setup? Sorry, don't know a lot about systems.

I deffinitely don't wanna put too much weight on my lil D series engine, that's why I don't wanna have a huge system, just one that sounds good.

Re: Anyone ever try this?

You don't have a bad system there. It's actually pretty decent if you are on a budget. ONly thing I would ditch probably is the Cerwin Vega 6.5 and Sony 6x9's. The Pioneer amp is 2 channel right? I would power your pioneer 6.5's with that and run the 6x9's off the deck. The 6x9s require more power, but you don't sit in the back of the car.

yes, the pioneer is a dual channel, but the MTX is far more expensive. So judging by the reviews and the costs, which one do I think I should use?

Re: Anyone ever try this?

I would keep everything but the cerwin vega and sony speakers. Use the MTX amp to power the Infinity sub, use your deck to power your 6x9s and use your Pioneer amp to power your front speakers.

hey gs, just got this today

http://www.mobilcaraudio.shoppingcar...784/284201.htm

do you think it'd be better to power the front speakers with that amp?

Maybe I don't know anything about sound systems, but if the front speakers sound bad wih no amp when being trned up to higher volume, wuldn't they sound even worse if i hooked an amp up to make them even louder, even though they sound shitty without an amp?
