2003 pontiac grandam misfire
i have a problem with my car. the engine is not getting any power. I have a hard time driving it. it shaking tremedously. also the car started smoking from underneath. the exhaust pipe was turning red and smoking from there. is this a major problem? i don't have a lot of money to hire a mechanic..can this problem be solved by myself easily. is it common for grandam's to shake after while? by the way i have a have a V4.

By the sounds of it you may have a plugged catalytic converter. Hard to say what it is with the info given. Is the check engine light on? Did the problem start small, and deteriorate to this point?

Welcome to AF falcon1000.
Does sound like, from what you've described, a clogged Cat Converter. They are not realy cheap, $75-200, and your old one will need cut off then the new one welded in. Also you either hav a 3.4L V6 or the 4 cyl. Hope that helps!
