Peugeot 206 colour help

Hi all

Just recently got the bug to do some more WRC's after having a break with some a/c & AFV kits & thought I would tackle Simon Jean-Joseph's '01 Catalunya car. I saw a WIP on here recently which looked very good but can't recall what was used for the body colour. Can anyone help out with that?

Hey Seamus, S27 or Renaissance? I have seen so many photos of this car that it is very hard to tell from them. I just matched the banner across the top of the windscreen as it always seems to match in the photos. If you are stuck I will look up what paint I used.

Maybe Phil knows what the RAL number is?

Hi guys,

Unfortunately I cannot say the exact RAL or color code but I can tell what it's not !

It's not RAL 5002 (bozian color), and it's not either the usual Gauloises metallic color so don't trust Renaissance pictures (to dark and too metallic color) !!

Found a pic on the web that gives a quite well idea of the real color:




I can't find any precise match, simply because I think there isn't any...

Thanks Phil & thanks to you as well Don. Looks like I may have to spend some time in front of the auto spray shelves at my local auto spare parts store for a close-enough match.

BTW Phil, which car(s) would be the metallic blue Gauloises colour be applied to? IIRC, I have a set of rally car decals which called for Cobalt Blue as the body colour, which I picked up in auto spray. I'm pretty sure it's metallic, just not sure if it's ggoing to be too dark or not.

I wasn't inevitably thinking to a rally car when talking about the metallic color.... And I can't remember a rallye car using metallic color to depict Gauloises sponsoring...
The Dakar Renault Megane proto had such color if not wrong...
The metallic blue is mostly used for Gitanes cars, as the Renault 5 Turbo at its first WRC entry in '80 corsica rally.
Except perhaps for an Alpine (??) I'm even not sure the metallic color has been used in rally for Gauloises cars... Not recently for sure, I mean not since the 80's.
The confusion comes from the bikes racing or tracking racing championships where the metallic color was or still is used.
neither SJJ's 206 nor Loeb's Xsara used the metallic color for example.
But your decals should be an answer, which ones are they ? Which car is this ? If decals and reference given are accurate we have a Gauloises metallic blue rally car !
I'm wondering if cobalt blue wasn't the ref given for the Gitanes 5 Turbo..

For bike painting purpose, that's what I meant above
gauloises sponsored rally cars don't use the metallic color used on bikes.
