97 GT four door bj. Break job that is!
HELLO! I have a 97 grand am GT. Looking forward to replacing the front brakes, rotors included. How tough a job is this? Ive never done brakes before so Im interested if I am able to do the challege to save some cash. What odd tools do you need, any? Any insight would be helpful. Thanks!~

hi i had to do mine-96 grand am not long ago-the caliper bolts are allen head cap screws-3/8 or 10mm-you need that-i used a socket one-the pistons in the calipers need to be pushed back to allow for the new pads-if the piston doesn't move caliper is seized-i allways take the cap off master cyl. to allow for expansion of fluid-i can't think of much else but i'm sure there is something-these cars are cheap to buy brake parts for!

You'll need a large "C" clamp for compressing the caliper piston. I dont recomend loosing the cap and allowing the pressure to blow back into the system.
It will push the old fluid(with contaminates and moisture that has settled to the lower line) backwards through the system and can cause several problems with your ABS system down the road. Open the bleeder valve on the caliper to releave the pressure. Other then that you will also need some brake grease for the caliper slide pins, and any other odds and ends that would typicaly need checked and replaced as needed.
