Hyundai has finally grown up

The Hyundai Accent SR
Quote:
Hyundai's SR concept rides on MacPherson strut front suspension with new torsion beam, lowered and widened. The 18-inch alloy wheels have been fitted with wide 225/40R profile tires. Power comes from a turbocharged 2.0-liter mated to a five-speed automatic gearbox. Other features include ESP, a tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) and a surround system of airbags. The interior is trimmed in aluminum and leather. Aluminum pedals and inserts further add to the sporty look. The wraparound fascia includes an integrated 8-inch graphic display screen, 3 USB 2 multimedia ports and touch screen-type controls to activate electric windows, mirrors and seats.

Sure they will probably cut down a bit on the interior but the fact remains the Hyundai is finally fufilling their promise in delivering a straight from the factory turbocharged Accent.

Sure, the concept does have a 5 speed auto, but that only indicates more that it is equipped with Hyundai's new electronic AWD system.

People have claimed this car is going to be put into production for commemoration of their years spent in the WRC as well as having their best year in rally since, ever.

So in other words you can call this a we won a couple of courses but no series but at least tried our best comemoration car.

Regardless of their rally record though, this would make a great production car for Hyundai to be taken seriously in the sporty segment.

My only queefe is that like many other manufacturers, ecspecially another that starts with an "H," they have dumped double wishbone in favor of Mcpherson struts.

But if that means going AWD I can be for it.

Either that or take the engine and tranny from that to transplant into a Kia Spectra5, which has double wishbone.

Which brings up one other thing, doesn't the Accent SR look sort of like the Spectra5?

Re: Hyundai has finally grown up

It will be faster than the other hyundais for sure, but I still am not a fan of the look. Alot of new cars are going this way. They have high roofs, short bodies, big wheels. I don't know they just look so squatty and fat.

Hyundai has indeed grown up, too bad I don't like this segment of cars, I might be tempted to order mine today, of course with the "party-time" lighting deleted.

Disgusting. Hyundai needs to stay in Korea, I never liked any of their cars.

Looks like any other suv rice-burning p.o.s. I never said other people didn't like shyitdais I just said I don't like em. I have a good feeling too some 16 year old rich kid is going to turn ghetto and "pimp" this thing out.
