1987 635 L6 (e24) interior fuse block

Got a guy that needs to get his power windows fixed. None of them are working. Not getting any power at all to the connectors.
The chilton's and http://www.stormpages.com/countchocu...w/ETMindex.htm say that there is a fuse block under the driver's side dash. The chilton's shows a pic of the driver's side kick panel with a plate removed with fuses underneath. But there is no damned kick panel in the car! The entire underside of the dash is removed on the driver's side. Lots of wires dangling.
Can't follow the wire harness forward because it disappears underneath the carpet. All other power accessories work, ie: power seats, a/c, etc.

So, where is the interior fuse block?
And, any ideas on where to start? yeah, i know it's a mess, but hey what are you gonna do? lol

Hello,

On the driver-side knee bolster is a circuit breaker; sometimes they fail. Of course you could push it to see if it pops back in, but if it does'nt then you can check it with an ohm meter.

Fuses are under the hood in the engine bay.

Your first problem is that you are using a Chiltons and then wondering why it is wrong!!
There is no "fuse block" under the dash. The only fuse block is in the engine compartment. With the key in run, power is supplied to the window relay (K9) in the fuse block, check this relay first. This passes power to a 25 amp circuit breaker that is supposed to be mounted in a recess on the right side of the driver's side under kick panel. Power then flows to the switches in the center console. I have an '87 635 and my owners manual shows this circuit breaker, but it is not in my kick panel as illustrated. I don't know if they just stopped mounting it in the kick panel, leaving it behind the panel or eliminated it altogether. I can't imagine the latter as this is the only fuse in a high amp circuit. ( FYI, the sunroof is also on this CB). In any case the wire into the CB is a single red-green one, with a single red one going to the window switches. Trace the red wires from the switches back and you should find the CB. hope this helps.
FWIW, dump the Chilton's and get a Bentley BMW 5-Series '82 through '88 manual. so much better. I found mine on the net for $32.

This thread got me wondering just where my window CB was, so I asked around and got an answer here:
