87 635 Csi
I am contemplating the purchase of a 1987 635csi, and I am curious what others have experienced with this model.
The general description of the car is: - 179,000 Kms on it, or approximately 108,000 miles. - An automatic transmission. - Very little rust. - A leak of ATF when cold, but none when warm. - An A/C switch that sticks on, but still functions with some fiddling. My main concerns are electrical problems (i.e. How bad are they?), and the cost/frequency of other repairs. One issue to be addressed is that the caps on the sides of the seats (that fit right at the joint between seat and back) are missing, and the automatic head-rests need to be sorted out, as they no longer work. Lastly, there appears to be some orange substance in the door openings, that was explained by the vendor as being some variety of anti-rusting agent applied at the factory. Has anyone heard of this before? |
