F800 Lucas Girling wheel cylinders, AARRRGGHHHH!!!
I'm trying to re-install a brake drum on a '96 F800 with Lucas Girling Hydraulic brakes. I have never seen anything like this before. Original problem was a leaking wheel cylinder. Had to remove a "parking brake chamber" from behind it in order to get the wheel cylinder off. went back with a new cylinder and brake shoes, now I cant seem to get the wheel cylinder(s) **it has two** to compress enough for the drum to slide over the brake shoes. Does anyone have any idea what I'm doing wrong? I tried opening the bleeders on both, the parking brake chamber and the wheel cylinder, and still nothing...

It sounds like you have done everthing possible to get the drum back over the shoes. Do you still have the old parts? Compare with the new parts. Someone may have given you the wrong parts. You have done this but I have to ask anyway. Is the adjuster backed off all the way? Do you think turning the drums would help any? Are the brake shoes fuly seated on the pivot point? I keep asking these stupid questions. I'd Better go. Dave
