Volvo 940 vs Magnum SRT-8

Sup dudes!

Got a chance for an honest run against an SRT-8!

I was gonna make up a street racing story, but I actually ran him at the Street Legal Drags today.


Anyway...I had a so/so day. R/T's and 60 foots were both "eh" at best. Track wasn't very quick - had to stop for about 2 hours while it was raining, they they tried their best to keep the track dry.

Still...

Magnum SRT-8: 13.991 @ 101.34
Volvo 940: 14.12 @ 98.73

I was nipping on his heels. According to the slip, if I would have run a 2.1 60 foot instead of a 2.3, I would have nosed him out (and hit 13's). He was pretty damn surprised!

No idea they made Magnum SRT-8s. Ugly bastards if you ask me But dang, nice times and nice 60'... I would have a mid 13 second car if I could actually launch it! Someone with my mods + cooling and DRs ran a 12.75!

I still cant imagine what your car looks like moving that fast...

Thanks so much man! I had a blast, had not been to a drag strip in 5 years!

My first run was a 15.8 at 82 (long story...lol). 16psi. 2.7 60 foot, and redlining in 2nd instead of Drive. Whoops!

Second run was a 15.0 at 96. 16psi again. 2.7 60 foot.

Third run was 14.12 at 19psi, and I decided to call it a day as the lines were SUPER long. 90 minutes between runs.

I'm now thinking of putting my setup into a 240 Volvo Wagon (200 lbs lighter) with a T5 manual trans swap (50 lbs lighter), 4.10 rear, light flywheel, larger turbo. With a few trimmings, that should have me knocking on high 12's on all OEM Volvo power!

That's a Charger, not a Magnum. Never seen a Charger SRT-8 with the Super Bee package before.

I'm more interested in what that red quadcab Dodge Ram ran in the back ground.

Very impressive times man! I hear ya on the first runs though...my first time down the track I ran a 15.0 @98 with a 2.56 60' back when I was stock. Hell ask MZR about his first run! Haha

The Magnum SRT-8 was silver. The Bee is not the car that's on the time slip. But he was running 13.7-14.3's.

That Ram was running 15's.

I raced an Escalade V truck that ran 14.3!!

My first run was a 16.79 @ 92mph. Something I will hold dear forever
But my best now is 14.1 @ 103.75 so I made up for it. Those lines would SUCK! our lines were maybe 10 minutes. And that is a lot of muscle cars there, and then the random Volvo

That's only 1 run group out of 3. You run ONCE and then wait for all the other groups to run before your group is called up again.

I'm in the process of selling my 928...building a Volvo wagon for 12's. Same powerplant, larger turbo, 250 lbs lighter car, manual trans conversion (Ford T5) w/ light fly and 4.10's on slicks.

Grandma's wagon is gonna hunt C5's.

Thats a pretty slow time for an srt-8, but its awesome to see a volvo that quick
