Unhappy How Do I Disable Air Suspension Light

I replaced the Air shocks with regular springs from a conversion kit I purchased on EBAY. The instructions to disable the "Check Air Suspenson" light were included in the kit. I followed these instructions without success. I disconnected pin #11 from the wire harness under the dash, behind the glove box. I then telephones the company and was told to cut the black wire to the air compressor under the hood - below the ait filter cannister. HELP!!! how do I TURN OFF THIS LIGHT????? I own a 1997 Lincoln Town Car signature.

Re: How Do I Disable Air Suspension Light

Have you driven it yet? How do you like the ride compared to the Air Springs?

I like it much better, Just that crazy light drives me nuts. Little stiffer ride handles much better.

Re: How Do I Disable Air Suspension Light

No help. I have a 97 model sig. I guess it is different. There is no green wire behind the glove box. Pin #11 is gray. I did not cut it but removed the pin from the harness and it did nothing. I have tried taking out the fuse under th hood and the relay - no effect. I had someone from suncore tell me to cut the ground wire to the compressor under the hood - no effect either I just had to figure out how to splice a short wire back together (ughh). Any ideas?

Re: How Do I Disable Air Suspension Light

Here's the instructions I got from Arnott Industries:

Disarming the Air Suspension System

1990-1994 Town Car
The module is located in the trunk, behind the air suspension switch.
Pull back the trunk carpet and remove the 2 nuts that mount the air suspension module. Unplug the air suspension module and bolt it back in place.

1995-1997 Town Car
The module is located behind the glove box.
Flip the glove box down and locate the air suspension module mounted on the heater core directly in front of you. Unplug the module and close glove box.

Talking Re: How Do I Disable Air Suspension Light

two ways work great
1. go in behind the dash and remove the BULB.
2. cut a 1/2 inch square piece of black plastic electritions tape and paste it over the air susp lite.
# two worked for me till i got new bags.

Re: How Do I Disable Air Suspension Light

There Should Be A Diag Connector In The Trunk Peel Back Carpet And If You Ground One Of The Wires Not Sure Which One It Will Turn Off Trial And Error.the Connector Is Kinda Triangled Shaped.monroe Gives You A Connector With There Kits I've Installed Before It Will Work Just Have To Find The Right Wire And Ground It Somewhere In The Trunk

Re: How Do I Disable Air Suspension Light

I FIGURED IT OUT AFTER A WEEK OF

RIGHT BEHIND THE GLOVE BOX (TAKE THE GLOVE BOX OUT) IS THE CONTROL MODULE. THERE ARE A GRAY AND A BLACK CONNECTOR, DISCONNECT THE BLACK. IF YOU ARE AS ANAL AS I AM AND DON'T WANT TO CUT ANY WIRES, REMOVE THE RED CENTER DIVIDER FROM INSIDE THE CONNECTOR, IT JUST SLIDES RIGHT OUT. THEN YOU CAN REMOVE THE PIN CONNECTED TO THE GREEN WIRE, PIN#11, IT IS ON THE BOTTOM ROW IN THE CENTER. PUT THE DIVIDER BACK IN AND RECONNECT THE HARNESS!

OR YOU CAN JUST CUT THE GREEN WIRE - LAZY.

PRESTO NO MORE LIGHT!!!!!

Re: How Do I Disable Air Suspension Light

Hey Jarben1,
Are the instructions from Arnott Industries incorrect for 1997
Is "unplugging the module" as referenced incorrect? We need to know for future questions on this subject.

YES, SIMPLY UNPLUGGING IT WILL TURN OFF THE LIGHT, BUT IT ALSO DISABLES THE STEERING CONTROL THAT IS OPERATED BY THE SLIDE LEVER TO THE LEFT OF THE STEERING COLUMN. REMOVING THIS PIN#11 FROM THE HARNESS DISABLES THE CHECK AIR SUSPENSION LIGHT WITHOUT INTERFERING WITH THE STEERING TENSION.

HOPE THIS HELPS.

Re: How Do I Disable Air Suspension Light

To confirm for 1995-1997:

You needn't remove the Glove Box, unhook it from the right, squeeze the sides to release and let it hang out of your way. Behind the Glove Box, mounted to the Heater Unit is a connection with two plugs, one GRAY, one BLACK, each about 2". On the BLACK connector, midway, is a GREEN wire (this is pin #11). Cut this wire to disable "Check Air Suspension" light.

And to prevent the Air Compressor from ever coming on again, just remove the 30A FUSE (#35 I believe) for the Air Suspension from the Fuse Box under the hood. I also left all of the hardware in place for the original Air Bags, I just used Zip ties to secure the connections to whatever was handy and away from the exhaust. As for the ride, I can't tell the difference; it's still like driving a Barcalounger down the road...

Unhappy Re: How Do I Disable Air Suspension Light

For those of you with a '98 on, you are out of luck if you wish to disable "air suspension" indicator on dash. It is controlled by the ECM/BCM, and short of reprogramming the computer, there is no way to turn out the light. I just got used to it being there...
