Touareg Headlight Bulb(3-4 Months Life?)
My friend bought a VW Touareg a year and a half ago. He claims that his Touareg had Headlight Bulbs burnt every 3 to 4Months. Even though the VW dealer replace it under warranty, but its a pain having to bring the SUV in every now and then to replace a Bulb. My question is:
1. Is there any Bulb that will last longer for Touareg?? 2. Can he replace the Headlight himself? Cause he had the local Pep's Boy auto repairshop look at it and they couldn't figure out how to replace it. Any pictures on how to replace them will be greatly appreciated. |

do you have hid or regular halogens? factory vw halogen headlights are crappy (buy aftermarket and they will last at least a year or two)

It is Halogen Bulbs. The dealer told him that it is because the Vehicle is equiped with DRL which can't be turn off, and it is illegal to turn it off. Is that true? Or the Dealer is BS. I have several Cars that has DRL and I can turn it off anytime. I think I saw several Touareg on the road with the DRL turn off. I'll check his Touareg this weekend and see if I can remove the oem bulbs and replace it with aftermarket(PIAA, Hella). |

You can recode the electronic consumer control module to put an option in the MFI to turn off the DRLs. But technically vw is not supposed to do it. If you have a vag-com you can turn them off.
