Heater lights out.

Hi I have a 2004 Acura MDX with the touring package. The lights above my navigation screen went out. I banged with my hand on the daash above and they came back on. Since then they have gone off. The heater functions normal. Is this a loose ribbon cable? The fact that they all came on again and they all went off at the same time makes me believe its some connection. Whats involved in getting at the connection. Any help would be apppreciated.

P.S. I also hhave a problem with my control on the steering wheel for the volume I believe. When I try to lower or raise the volume it changes the mode AM FM CD. I had the ground repaired under a recall I believe a few years ago.
