Hybrid Power Inverter Replacement

I'm looking for anything special I need to know about DYI Power Inverter replacement please. This is the main drive unit under the hood.

I have in mind:
  1. Disconnect the electrical power/batteries
  2. R&R the unit (bolt in replacement)
  3. Power up
  4. Start and run the car
  5. Clear the CEL
What might I be messing or need to be careful with??

Thanks in advance.

Re: Hybrid Power Inverter Replacement

You may have heard by now that Toyota is recalling inverters due to faulty transistors.

Re: Hybrid Power Inverter Replacement

This recall doesn't seem to be helping as the dealer says I need a whole inverter......my guess is, is that the dealer is not able to troubleshoot to the computer board level. We'll see.

I haven't seen or heard of a power inverter replacement yet other than damaged ones from accidents.

And yes the recall is for the hybrid inverter power module (in the box under the hood) not the power drive unit (transmission part)
