Re: top speed

I've never taken my SL to the max before because I've been too scared of my tires shredding or cops pulling me over. Yeah, I'mma chicken-butt. Hehe
But umm Stealth, I just checked out your little link down there and your ride's lookin' good bro. I like those rims of yours. And your engine bay looks sweet!

93 base 3000GT here. i've got mine up to 120, but let off. A mechanic friend told me they are electronically limited to 125. Of course, that's what he said about the 93's, i wouldn't doubt a 94's top speed to be higher. Also, check out www.hskusa.com, they have an SLD (speed limit defencer) that can supposedly remove the speed limiter.

Re: top speed

I took my VR-4 to about ~135. Still had a good bit of power left in it...too scared to go much higher though. I've read opinions on both ways saying that there are speed limiters and some say that there aren't it's just the aerodynamics don't allow for higher top speeds with stock power. Not real sure on who is right and wrong.

Re: top speed

The US models did not have speed limiters.

in that case, then its most likely because of the lack of power of our stock NA's / VR4's that we can't seem to get our cars over 120/135mph, respectively.

Anyone else reached 154 like Tearzrsnow? I know he had to have a bunch of mods, 1) to reach that speed on a NA, and 2) b/c he won 2nd Place Drag racing Fwd @ 3s National Gathering 03

Post the top speeds YOU have reached, including the mods you have!

Re: top speed

my friends stock base model has been up to 140 and still climbing, my vr4 has been to 160-165 when it was stock. Now I can hit 160 in 4th gear.

Re: top speed

I've been up to 140 in my 95 SL, only mod that could be construed as preformance would be the drop in replacement K&N. You guys sound like your shifting at like 3000 rpm, it takes a long time to geet going fast when your engines runing a normal speed, when I decided to go up to 140 I was shifting at like 5-6 which gives a good purr but not nearly red-lining it lol.

I got my 94 base up to 130 and stopped climbing cause I suffer from some wierd high oil pressure problem that I cant seem to figure out. my pressure maxxes out at 3000rpms, its not supposed to do that till like 4000rpm. also I heard the autos have a higher top speed then the manuals.....dont know if its true though!

a guy that used to work at 3sx got his N/A ATX up to 155 before. Also, the ATX's last gear is similar to the first gen vr-4's last gear, so they are geared higher for top speed than a FWD MTX.

Re: top speed

'93 3000GT base ATX. got mine up to 140 before letting off. I still had the pedal to the floor, but it took a long time to get faster as the MPH grew. And it wastes a lot of gas!
