Question Mazda 626 shifting

what causes hard shifting. The entire car jerks when changing gears. Any ideas of what might be causing this??

If it's an automatic, you might want to have your torque converter checked. If you have a manual, your clutch might be wearing.

Your tach (short for "tachometer") is the gauge that displays your rpms.. you should check (i.e. look at) that. I know that the wording was a little confusing. If your car doesn't have a tach, does it sound like the engine is revving higher than usual prior to your shift points (sounds like you drive an automatic-transmissioned car)?

So far, I'm with DVS, it sounds like it's your torque converter (or your clutch if you drive a manual?).
