If anybody can find detailed specs of Nissan R391 on the internet(or anywhere else) I will have to shake your hand since I have not been able to do this after days and days of searching. This is what I want :
Engine size and type, HP, Torque, Acceleration, top speed.

I promise you, it's not on the www . (Come on, prove me wrong :{ )
The only thing I was able to find is that it has around 600hp.
P.S. I dont care about its dimensions Because that's all you'll find.
This IS a contest, the 1st person to find this info can ask me one (1) wish.
Ok, go now, and good luck hunting.

3.5L V8 TWIN TURBO
0-60 3.6s
200 MPH Top speed

HP 650HP because of Lemans Rules, can't have more! The new R35 Skyline may have the updated version of this engine. I'll try to find out more, (Torqe, 0-100,etc..)

I'm not to familiar with the R391. but the R390, I have heard many different views on it. Like a 0-60 range of 3.5-3.9 seconds, top speed between 200-240+, all say they are V8 turbos of course costing in excess of 1,000,000 , and as high as 3.0+ G's of lateral acceleration. What have you others heard?

I have all of the info on the R390:
http://www.webticks.com/igorsush/r390.htm
http://www.webticks.com/igorsush/r390specs.htm

But if you surf around that site to R391 page, you'll see that most of the specs are blank, I wanna fill them up.

Nismo, your info is a little off pal. Its official speed that Nissan Motor Company and NISMo has released is 200+, and 0-60 has been reported at anywhere between 3.4 and 3.6. 1/4 Mile I heard was 10-11, but no definitive answer is available. And BTW, the car sucked (in Lemans that is).

Talking R391GT1 is actually quite different from the R390GT1

Aside from being an open-top like many of the other new LMPs, the R391GT1 actually has a different powertrain from the '97-98 R390GT1. It uses a VRH50A, which is a 4997cc (5.0L) displacement V8 non-turbine motor. Unfortunately, the change didn't seem to help as the R390 seemed to have performed much better (all 4 R390s placing in top ten, Le Mans 1998) than the R391. However, the R390's 3.5L turbocharged V8 was not laid to rest in '99 and powered the french open-top Courage C52.

Unfortunately, I think it's still too new to have specs out. Of course, that's according to this.

...and the rest is history

The site above is likely an old site created before the 1999 24 Hours of Le Mans race. Its all over and done with (considering that it is now 2001) and the R391 specifications are listed throughout the web. If you cannot find much information, it is because the R391 was not that popular, especially with its short life on the track (Nissan pulled out of Le Mans before 2000 due to budget cuts). If you are wondering why the engineers at Nissan decided to use an all-new naturally aspirated 5.0L V8, instead of the proven TWR 3.5L V8 twin turbo, it was because they decided that a free-flowing high torque motor with a broad powerband would be less strenuous to the drivers who need to concentrate on the track, rather than boost-lag, and other turbo related drawbacks. Even with all that effort, the R391 was left behind, and afterwards left in the dark... one can only hope that Nissan will rejoin the pack at Le Mans in the future and perhaps one day, like Mazda, be victorious, carrying the flag of the rising sun.

Smile More details

engine designation: VRH50A
5.0 litre 90 degree V8 naturally aspirated
approx. 600hp @ 7500rpm
Xtrac 6-speed gearbox
18"x13", 18"x15" BBS wheel/Bridgestone tires
Carbone Industrie rotors/Brembo 6-pot calipers

I had to translate some German to get some of this info, but I can't seem to locate torque readings. As for 0-60 times, who cares, all those Le Mans prototype racers are around 3.X seconds.
