Metromile - what does it collect from the OBD-II port?
So, I just got off the phone with a Metromile representative.
My car was transported on a flat bed for about 300 miles and they had logged those miles as driving miles. They said they'll remove them once I send them the transportation order for the relocation. I got curious about what they collect from the OBD port as that's where the device plugs in. Obviously, they'd see that wheel speed is zero and engine is not on. The representative told me in no uncertain terms that they ONLY collect error codes from the OBD port and nothing else. Does anybody know what the actual truth is? It's very hard to believe that they don't collect any data from the OBD port beside error codes....

Re: Metromile - what does it collect from the OBD-II port?
The metromile pulse model collects data via gps. They log everything. Driving habits, excessive acceleration, hard braking the works. Its like having a drivers 2 be instructor sitting beside you logging everything you do. This is how they access the risk.of insuring you. They use all data as a risk assessment.

Thanks. GPS is built in to their own device. I'm wondering specifically about what they collect through the OBD port where they have you plug it into. Doing that just for error codes seem kind of hard to believe.
