LeMans isn't what it used to be?

So I'm watching it, thinking "Man, this just isn't the same without F1s."

And then the announcer, when the Aston Martin goes by, says something to the effect of:

"There's a lot of British fans here today....Some say LeMans is a British Race that just happens to be held in France....And Britain was in no better form than in 1989 when Jaguar won the race, with an excellent international team of drivers."

Apparently this guy hasn't studied his history properly, completely forgetting the F1's sweeping victory in 1995, and impressive follow up performances in 96 and 97...with drivers from all over the world.

I almost miss the days of GT1s, CLK-GTRs and F1s battling it out. Nowadays it's just a bunch of carbon-copy LMP cars, with the odd Porsche, Ferrari, Corvette and Aston, and Saleen thrown in. Audi is so dominant in the race that they've gotten bored and started taunting the other manufacturers by entering a diesel powered car.

Anybody else feel the same way?

I feel the same way bro. Audi doesn't have any competition, and the LMPs are hideous. Back in day the cars looked better, and some were even faster than today's LMPs

Take out the Chicanes in the Mulsanne, and just like the Thoroughbred Grand Prix for 'old timers' (read late '70's, all of the '80's and some '90's Formula 1cars) they should do a race series for the F1's, CLK GTR's, 911 GT1's, XJ220 TWRs, etc etc.
