96 b2300 timing belt help

i am replacing the timing belt on my truck i have a chilton manual but the instructions for replacing dont seem to be correct. it seems to me like the crankshaft pulley/dampener thing needs to come off but the book doesnt say anything about removing it. i just cant see any way to get the belt on without removing it. also any tips on how do break the nut loose with out the crankshaft turning would be appreciated. oh yeah its a 2wd
