Re: need help one cylinder not fireing
If you gapped all the plugs right, and if the wires are installed correctly, then your next move should be checking each plug wire with a timing light.
If you go from one plug wire to the next, and with each you look the timing light in the eye,it will show you if any of them are missing or not.A good sign is a *steady intermittant* spark signal coming through the timing light.A bad signal is a *non-steady intermittant *spark signal. If you dont have a timing light, you can pull each plug out and see if they all match,or if one or a few come back smelling of gas or fowled in any way other than normal plug wear. An old school more brutal way of checking them,is using a pair of insulated pliars, and pulling off each wire as its running,to note the change of each you pull off.No change=no spark. If none of that helps check the compression and compare each cylinder.More than 10% difference between any of them,And its going to shake no matter what. If its about to swallow a valve, you can check it with a vaccume gauge. What you want to see on one of those is a nice steady signal between 13-18 inches mercury. And finally i bring you to the cam.If you run the crap out of it or if its a high mile car,it might need a cam, timing set,or lifter/pushrod set. It could be a bad coil,it could be a vaccume leak,or a bad gasket somewhere. |

I don't see what the big deal is 97CamaroRS and why you have to come on here and try to start trouble. With statements like the last 2 you made you're only trying to start an arguement. IMO neither Camaros or Firebirds are "inferior" they're basically the same car. I don't have a preferance one way or another. And if you want to debate the 2 start a new thread and don't clutter up one where someone is just trying to get a little help.

Re: need help one cylinder not fireing
aww i think he was just funnin maybe, dont spin a main bearing over it kicker.Ive said some stuff jokingly, and ended up banned from the forum.
He has to know that we on the pontiac end of chevy are in with the excitement division.A SBC is awsome and i have one and its fast and omega concern of the ricers on my block>but you cant argue with the eye crossing dyno busting low end torque of a strung out 400 pontiac. and for tpoics sake MANO84,have you ever had it put on a diagnostic, and is the check engine light on? |

Yeah, Silver is right. I know this guy from over at the Camaro forum and outside the forum. He is just having some fun at his own expense after all you have to have a sense of humor to drive a Six cylinder sports car.(JK Hypsi and Everyone else I actually like the 3.8s)
