Fujimi Mercedes 190E 2.5 16v

Tried searching around but didnt find so much, so mabe better ask here:
I just bought the fujimi 190 2.5 16v. I like this car, also cause was the "enemy" of the alfa in DTM serie.
The kit I ordered is this:

http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10227033

does anybody know if this is a decent model or something hard to fix like the bmw m3 of the same era? If so, what are main issues to fix?
Still dunno if build it up like street car or make it become a racer, I am nearly sure fujimi just provide the parts for a street model, but racing cars are really cool in liveries.

Thank you for your opinions.

Re: Fujimi Mercedes 190E 2.5 16v

This kit looks much better than BMW M3. It's a reissue of the race version but without decals. You can't build a street version because the rear seat with headrests and street decals is not included in this kit.
You can compare the old street version http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10001035 and the reissue version http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10227033/
I have made a copy of a rear seat for myself to build a street version. Not perfect, but usable.

And I have a scan of decal. You can contact me if you need an original of the scan.

Re: Fujimi Mercedes 190E 2.5 16v

Thanks a lot for your info Mikhail.
Your response is really important cause Iīve seen how good you are around lines and shapes of cars, so if YOU say thats basically ok for me this is the greatest thing.

Another positive for me is that they basically reissued the race version parts (I prefer theme always..) , and looking at parts images I also note the slick tyres and the very basical and probably wrong rollcage inside it. Of course is a basic model, really far away from modern standards, but itīs the only around to make such beauty. Was curious to ask cause Iīve just read the opinion of wannabee experts from other forums where they just talk bad of this model (without showing anything of course..).

Think the main problem for the racing versions I like is around wheels. The black one from Klaus Ludwig for example had the AMG OZ wheels, showed in fujimi artbox, but probably different inside the box (just can see the 5 star spocket wheels there...). does anybody knows if I can take theme from? was thinking at alfa 155 jagermeister from tamiya but they are slightly different, as well as the ones from peugeot 206 2006 wrc..

and also the one I like more, think from Hellen Lohr

so was thinking at tamiyas ones..similar but not correct completely

real one should be this then:

maybe they sell those somewhere as spares, but I dunno.
I also already have the ordinary fujimi 190E leyton house but also there wheels are similar but not those ones.

Paolo, I have this racing version. The body is very nice. I wish the wheels were better but they are usable. The chassis is designed to be battery operated so the detail level is not as good as it could be.

Paolo, in a bought kit you can find two sets of wheels - O.Z. Racing and 6 spokes. Both sets are visible on this photo http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/image/10227033n3/40/3

Re: Fujimi Mercedes 190E 2.5 16v

Cool!
Nice to have a fellow Swede building a 90:ies DTM Merc 190 EVO II.
I have been modifying my kit to get the interior to look like the 1992 car since August 2014.
Exterior wise the car is good, but interior is quite bad (no, really bad).

Remember if you want to build the Alfa opposition from 1993 that those cars, with exceptions due to the 1993 spec cars not being finalized, that the EVO II was not competed in this shape and form in the 1993 DTM.
Mercedes built a intermediate Class 1 specification in waiting of the C-Class that was introduced in 1994 (and spanked Alfa hard...).
The 1993 Mercedes 190 had a wing similar to that used on the C-Class in 1994 (might be possible to borrow one from the Tamiya kit of the C-Class) and different aero in the front.

The car on your picture is the 1992 championship winner of Klaus Ludwig.

Good Luck!

/Johan

so Johan the main difference in exterior to make a 93 dtm car was in the wing? must study carefully period pics then. Honestly the colors I like more are the ones from West (lohr/Thim) so will decide it further. Also the green/white driven by a very young Michael Schumacher tempts me....depends really what I will buy from DMC guy.Car is really interesting and I am really happy to discover I took a decent body.and not so much more , LOL

I will probably build it to relax between other longer projects and am searching mostly for some fun in paining/decalizing, without too many problems in the remaining parts..

Of course , and dont ask me why, I just bought my third alfa 155 martini...

About wheels:
Ok, probably I should have waited little more Mikhail answer, cause took from ebay fever I just bought wheels from taliya calibra cliff and tires from c klasse.. LOL. they will be nicer, no problema. (IF and WHEN I will start also this one,,,,)

The Mercedes 190 EVO II was last used in the DTM in 1993.
I link some images from speedhunters.com to show the 1993 car:

Both images are from an article about Klaus Ludwig. Good reading!
http://www.speedhunters.com/2009/10/...ludwig_pt_two/

Notice the two different wings used depending on the track layout. Top picture seems to be the same wing as used on the 1994 car (this is where the Tamiya kit can be used to replicate the wing), where the low drag wing is a completely different design.
Also the nose of the car was redesigned when compared to the 1992 car.

This was also the first year that Alfa Romeo joined the series with their 155 Ti.
Nicola Larini clinched the title.
Alfa was the first manufacturer that designed a new car to take full advantage of the new rules.

The 1994 Mercedes is another beast all together. Based on the C-Class road car. Tamiya issued a really nice kit of all three liveries raced in 1994.
The kits have item numbers TAM24146, TAM24143, TAM24140.

The Ellen Lohr / Kurt Thiim cars with the West sponsorship ran in 1991.
Fujimis kit is true to the exterior of that car and the 1992 versions.

Re: Fujimi Mercedes 190E 2.5 16v

yes, already noted several pictures show a different front spoiler. Seems also not to hard to make it.
C Klass kit from tamiya is really nice model, and coming from that era where they still include a lot of details inside the car, is absolutely a must to have. Already have 2 ones, but honestly right now the older 190 E looks way nicer to me. dont ask me why.. lol

Looking forward to seeing you build this Mercedes Paolo! I'm quite certain it will be amazing like the rest of your builds.

Re: Fujimi Mercedes 190E 2.5 16v

still searching around infos about this beautiful german racer,I found this nice website with a very detailed list of the cars involved. It is very clear the differences between years as well as the much wider body of the last cars of 1993,where also the front spoiler is completely different.

Being my idea to reproduce the WEST livery I should be quite ok with standard fujimi model, but many others famous ones have a slightly different body parts.

Re: Fujimi Mercedes 190E 2.5 16v

Ciao Paolo!

There are yearbooks of DTM released every year. They are like photobooks summarizing the season.

Your best bet are the ones called "Tourenwagen Story"
These are available from bothī92 andī93 and surely there will be a lot of pictures that might be useful. Maybe for future Alfa builds as well.

You can find them here:http://www.hortonsbooks.co.uk/index....er=DESC&page=3

15 GBP a piece is not all that much.

Also, donīt miss one of the best clips on Youtube! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gw-AxiVqihM

Re: Fujimi Mercedes 190E 2.5 16v

I think I will go on here posting instead of opening a real WIP thread in that section (mostly cause I know myself and I wellknow I cannot offer a decent and costantly update progress on this model still....), and then I would like to focus on some interesting details of this model.
Listening to other modellers and from the first appeal I had opening the box it seems fujimi kit is a little bit undersized, so I decided to keep the measure from the previous very welldone website and compare to what I have in hands.
The guy talks of those datas for the 1991 Evo car:
Technique: Track front/ rear 1470mm/ 1455mm, wheelbase 2665mm, length 4563mm, width 1706mm, heigth 1300mm, weight 980kg, 9800 revs/ min max. and 360 bhp end of the season

that divided in 24 means a width for this year car becomes 71mm, while for the following year one becomes 73.
So I took measures..and fujimi car looks like this:

that in my eyes loks like a 73 exactly.
So now I know the car is not slim but is nearly too large..
