Park plugs sitting in oil
97 contour. 2.0 dohc. What would be causing oil to pool on the top part of the plugs? Valve cover gasket?

the valve cover gasket comes with new rubber ring type gaskets for the plug holes it would be my first step to do the valve cover gasket but when you install the new gaskets use a soft faced hammer to tap them down far enough to put the cover on then snug the cover

Hey thanks. I pretty much new it had to be the valve cover cuz, well that's what is all around them. However, I obviously got the skimmed down version of the gasket replacement kit because it only came with the cover gasket. And the person before got it too I'd say because it was like that before I replaced the water pump. Not this time though. I'll be sure to solve this prob finally.

I don't know where to get the spark plug sleeve gasket if there is such a thing. I just bought another valve cover gasket, but don't think it's going to solve nothing. Please help

 did you have those 10 seals along with the gasket? yea, i don't see anything of that sort(spark plug hole seals) for this DOHC 4 cylinder engine as well... just make sure to take off the bolts from the outer edges first and work your way in sequence and reverse in sequence during re-install... not that much torque on the bolts as well |

I went through this same problem. Just make sure that when you replace the gasket you clean all surfaces completely and leave no oil residue. The gasket will seat much better in the valve cover if you do this. Also make triple sure you have the gasket seated when you turn the cover over to replace it. I didn't do that on my first attempt and pinched the gasket. If your plug wires have been sitting in oil long you will probably need to replace them. The oil will saturate the rubber and cause the plugs to misfire.
