Can I program a transponder key for my 2000 focus?

I have a 2000 Ford Focus that I need another transponder key for. But I don't want to pay the dealer 60-70 dollars to do it. The cost is in the labor.

Can anyone offer any ideas?

Thanks.

Re: Can I program a transponder key for my 2000 focus?

You can add keys yourself using the On Board programming method, although this method requires 2 already programmed keys. If you only have 1 available, the only way is to add keys using diagnostic equipment. I suggest contacting a locksmith to do this, they are usually cheaper. Go to http://clearstar.com and post a request in the public forum for a local locksmith.
