2000 BMW 323CI E46. Should I buy it?

Hey everyone, I came across a 2000 BMW 323CI E46 coupe that is in excellent condition. No body damage or interior damage whatsoever. This car has 137K miles on it and has a price tag of $5000. I am going to have this car looked at by a family mechanic before I talk money, but before I talk to the mechanic, is this car worth it? How reliable is the 3 series with 137k miles on it? Is the price for this car too high? By the way I am 18 and this is my second car. My current car, which is a Saturn, is about to die and I though have treating myself to something much nicer.
