Buyers guide
I'm looking into buying a Honda Del Sol. I have wanted one since they came out. They are kind of hard to find though. I did manage to find one that was already kinda riced though. Here is what I know about it already:
-1.5 litre non-VTEC engine(exactly what I want) -already reupholstered -automatic transmission (I want a stick) -valve cover oil leak -door locks don't work (repair costs?) -has ugly wing and rust damage on the passenger side. ~$600 to fix -read breaks(drums) squeal sometimes -engine hesitates sometimes (supposedly, it just needs new spark plug cables) -rear power window works -slight targa top leak -right top latch is damaged -mileage: 164,000 miles -asking price (after haggling) is $3,500 -15 inch rims and tires -timing belt and pump replaced 2 years ago -engine tics "because it needs an oil change" I think the price is too much given what needs done and what I am actually looking for, but its quite difficult to find something local. Tonight I'm going to look over and test drive it. What should I look for? Is this already a lost cause car? |

Re: Buyers guide
I'm not lookingat that car anymore. After doing some more research, I found much better options, but further out. I could still use some ideas of what major things to look for. (example, headgaskets on neons being bad. What is a specific thing to look at with the del sol?)

Re: Buyers guide
All Honda's are pretty solid. If the major maintenance schedule has been followed there really isn't much, mechanically, that you need to look for. As far as sol's, check the seals around the roof. That's about the only thing to look for aside from typical used car things.
