Red face Engine Light Comes on Almost Quarterly - A Nuisance

The engines light comes on nearly every quarter. Innocuous little things like emissions sensors, temperature, oxygen, etc. The gas cap leaking will cause it to. It's like the little boy who cried wolf. The dealer says "BMW installed the settings too tight". But they can't change them. After 28K miles of this crap, and numerous trips to the dealer, I am fed up. Dealer says he gets 50+ per week of just the type 3s. Any recommendations?

Buy a fault-code reader (such as from Peake - about $150) so you can see the codes yourself and make minor repairs without a trip to the dealer.
