Re: 2007 Honda RS250RW Scot team/Dovisioso (Hasegawa)

Thank you, Zonic and magnetto! I'm experimenting with washes now that
will include a little olive drab color... and other "dull" colors, to see if they can
add some variety to different metallic parts. I'll try to post in a day or two... Marco

Re: 2007 Honda RS250RW Scot team/Dovisioso (Hasegawa)

Marco - could I ask what your "wash" mix ratio is??
How much X-1 and how much water??
I have never been successful with washes and yours has the correct look on the parts.
Bravo with the washes
Thank you
John

Re: 2007 Honda RS250RW Scot team/Dovisioso (Hasegawa)

Thanks John,
My (rough) ratio is 1:10:1 for X-18:water:dish soap, so enough water to grey the X-18 and just a touch of the brush in the soap, I mix on a white artists palette, so I can see the result. touch it to the part (just once) and drag the brush along the line and watch it fill in by capillary action. If too heavy, dry the brush and quickly wick away some of the wash. Don't touch it over and over, try to do the wash just once so you don't overwork it. Like painting a watercolor. You can always wipe it off and start again. Below is a photo of the steps... Hope it is useful Marco

Re: 2007 Honda RS250RW Scot team/Dovisioso (Hasegawa)

Thanks for the tips on doing the washes - and the pics Marco
I tried to give you a "Thanks" but for some reason the forum is blocking me at this time - I will keep trying until I get it for you
I will have to give this approach a try - I have never been very successful with washes
John

Oh I just saw now the "thanks" went thru
John

Re: 2007 Honda RS250RW Scot team/Dovisioso (Hasegawa)

Slow but steady progress... I completed my wheels, including the large gear from the TS chain kit. Test fit to the frame on the stand with the hollow axles. Went smoothly, now for the chain kit! I have revised my design for the building base, and will be using this design now, fully adjustable for any bike in my stash.. Hope you like it. Comments, criticism, etc welcome.. Marco

Re: 2007 Honda RS250RW Scot team/Dovisioso (Hasegawa)

Thanks, guys... You can PM me if interested in a building base...

Another quick update.. I've completed the rear wiring, installed the chain and shock, followed by the exhaust system and cooling system. I used BMF to simulate the heat wrap, pressing a small flat tapered file into it, to create the texture. Then added a light wash to kill the shine. Radiator gets foil as well down the center, where track debris would damage the fragile structure.
You can see the right side piping is not a good fit to the radiator, so I'll fill it with a weld line later... I am enjoying this build! Marco

Hi Zonic, yes the cannisters themselves are metal, came with the TopStudio detail kit, and the yellow carbon/kevlar decals were from the kit.
