an electric sunroof isn't just "added by a dealer". it's OEM... factory installed.

and the ECS was factory fit and finished. Maybe a custom factory ordered car... who knows. but it's an exception, regardless.

And if they didn't have a sunroof... it comes down to production date. The later 95 models had no ECS, early 95's DID have ECS.

Re: 3000GT History, Options, and Year to Year Changes

cool. any chance you can PM me the VIN to play with? i just want to see how many other cars it says were built in 95 with the same options, and also see where it falls as far as production date. Custom order or not, i would think there will be very few cars identical to it (as far as year/trim/options go)

I *think* it may have went with the car when we scrapped it. I doubt I still have it. I'll check though.

I actually still have the original window sticker.

I'll scan it and host the picture. Give me a few.

Re: 3000GT History, Options, and Year to Year Changes

good stuff. i believe my lack of knowledge and blink's interest sparked this, so i say thank you. lil tough to follow on first read, but cool.

i know a bit bout the stealth, but i'm thinking if stealthee gets the time he'd do 10x better than i could on stealth differences.

maybe he then could answer this for me, did a 92 stealth have the glass roof as an option or were they standard?

that was primary difference mechanically right, options list/AA correct?

Re: 3000GT History, Options, and Year to Year Changes

just realized i forgot about the brake upgrade for '94.

was there any changes for the n/a models' brakes? (ever?)

EDIT, one more question...were there any other differences for the european market, other than the front end lighting? the 13b turbos were purely a dealer install, and not from the factory, correct? and also the europeans never got our version of the '99 right?

ok i lied, 2 more questions...i read that the GTO in japan kept its ECS and didnt lose it like the USDM models did...and also that the GTO (at least the '99 GTO) had LSDs. can anyone verify this as true or not?

NA brakes stayed the same

Euro 3000GT's had the "euro" front end and only got up to our 94-96 styling. As for turbos Euro 3000GT's had a 13g as an option.

Not sure about ECS, I would think they all lost it though. GTO's never got LSD's

Another note if you are on GTO's is to mention the GTO's had a different gear ratio in the 6 speeds than the 3000GT's got.

Re: 3000GT History, Options, and Year to Year Changes

ah...good info. I knew the MR had different gearing...did not realize that they all did.

I thought the same thing about the ECS and LSD, but then i came across this site...

http://www.j-garage.com/mitsubishi/gto/z16a.htm

"1999 GTO TWIN TURBO Twin turbocharged V-6 3000 DOHC 24-valve with intercooler : 6-speed manual transmission, ABS, ECS suspension, Four wheel drive VCU center diff, Rear Viscous LSD, 4WS, Rear spoiler, Electric door mirrors, Front electric adjust seats, Leather wrapped steering wheel, Leather wrapped shift knob, Driver and front passenger SRS air bags, Power steering, Power windows, Center door lock."

had me scratching my head a bit. That site also says that the MR had 4WS, ABS and electric seats...which i did not think was the case either.

Re: 3000GT History, Options, and Year to Year Changes

That could be as inaccurate as the one site that says a GTO MR is a mid engine rear wheel drive that came with 13g's from the factory.

"...but in Gran Turismo, MR means 'mid-engine RWD'...?"

Re: 3000GT History, Options, and Year to Year Changes

^^ wow!!! mr also stands for mid engine rwd in the mr2...

so then if the gto only got up to the 96 body, did they retain AA through it's demise in 01?

You misunderstood. The GTO (JDM) came in all stylings. It was the European 3000GTs that only saw through '96 stylings.
