Dropped Razor Blade in Engine

So I'm helping my buddy replace some valve cover gaskets on his 04 Mazda 6. There is a little bit of gasket sticking to the engine so he pulls out a razor to scrape some off. Turns out he accidentally drops the razor down into the engine on the front left side near the timing chain. We can't see the razor and we tried using a magnet on a flexible stick to get the razor out.... no luck. We're assuming the razor is down in the oil pan. We turned the key and cranked the engine to see if the razor might be stuck in any of the gears and such (probably not the smartest idea) and everything sounded fine.

Question 1. If the razor is truly down in the oil pan, what are the chances this razor would really foul up the engine? He's tempted to just leave the thing down there.

Question 2. We talked about dropping the oil pan and taking a look for the razor but noticed the exhaust is in the way. Dropping the pan looks like a real pain. Are there any directions or hints/tips for dropping the oil pan?

Re: Dropped Razor Blade in Engine

It's probably at the bottom of the timing chain cover.
