might buy 95 prism with problem-advise please!!
I am going to look at a 95 prism lsi tomorrow. It has the 1.8 engine , auto 4speed trans and has 127,000 miles on it. Owner states it is great except check engine light is on and that is due to bad o2 sensor. She states that it isn't as smooth over 3500rpm and does'nt shift as smooth due to sensor-- Sound true or not? $2200 is her price...Please advise before I buy it.. Thanx

$2200??? Sorry, but I believe that is an obscene price for ANY geo. Go buy a mid-80's Mercedes or BMW. You might have to keep an eye open for a week or 2 to find one for $2200 in excellent shape. Better performance, safer, cooler, tons more features, pretty good gas mileage... not much of a downside. Plus, the older bmws last just about forever when you take care of them.

i have a 90 prism with 218,000 miles on it, change the 02 senor then change the transmission filter and fluid and you should be fine, but i would try to get the price down to about $1,200 then it would be worth the purchase

Seller is probably being honest, but the price is too high. In the northeast you can buy the 1.6L models
with similar mileage for $1000-$1200 if you don't mind 10 less horsepower. They are excellent cars, same drivetrain found in the Corolla except for the alternator / starter and a few other components. My '94 has 191k miles and hasn't caused me any problems since I bought it at 155k. |

Re: Re: might buy 95 prism with problem-advise please!!
I have a 95 prizm lsi automatic with the 1.8. I have 130,000 miles on the car and it runs great. My check engine light came on recently and I replaced the o2 sensor and that took care of it. I do have bosch platinum 4's in it and a k&n air filter which helps the perfomance. I sold my 93 prizm to my friend for $3000 and it's still running.
