Italeri Mercedes Actros: Ducati, Subaru, and Mercedes Wrecker

I'm interested in building something different...a European Mercedes Actros truck. Has anyone built or heard anything about the Italeri Actros trucks? The team trailer ones are really nice because you get a small motoGP bike or rally car; It's like a 2 for 1! I've searched and there are less than a handful of threads but none about these 3 kits.

Below are my 3 final considerations. Thanks for any feedback!

Re: Italeri Mercedes Actros: Ducati, Subaru, and Mercedes Wrecker

I have the Scania/Subaru kit, but haven't tackled it yet. It looks like a good kit, fairly easy to build just HUGE. The engine of the truck would fill up the interior of the car. The trailer is probably almost 2 feet long itself. The car is a full Tamiya kit BTW, a gravel 'bug eye' Impreza WRC.

I got mine on Tower Hobbies for $39.99, it is often on sale from about $90, and I've seen it for $29.99 once or twice.

WOW $39 OR $29! I've gotta keep my eyes posted on towerhobbies. When you say the car is a full kit do you mean that every part in the individually-boxed Impreza is in this trailer kit? Also, what do you mean by bug eye, is it the one w/ the 6 headlights?

6 headlights?
The bugeye is the round headlighted Impreza, aka as the 2001 > 2003 model.
The Subaru team truck kit contains the full Tamiya 2001 tarmac version kit but with Tour de Corse decals.

Sorry, it's not gravel but a 2001/02-spec tarmac kit like this one:
http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXDLR9&P=7
Freakray says it's the Tour de Corse version.

It is the full Tamiya kit, just not in the box. I believe the decals are different from the ones in the Tamiya kit, and the instructions also call for Testors Model Master paints. They call for non-metallic French Blue for the car and hauler: It's close to the right hue, so it might work for that (If you can determine whether or not the hauler is 'mica' or not: Guys on the Yahoo rally modelers group can't) but is totally incorrect for the car.

The hauler is not a metallic blue. Guy's on RCMG haven't seen the right photos
If you see the car and hauler side-by-side, they're not even remotely the same color.
I think I have a photo on the hard drive, let me look and if I find it, I'll post it here.

I thought you may have meant this one. But I re-read the description of the kit and it's the 2001 team (not '98).

So wow, it really is a 2 for 1 deal. I have wanted to build a Euro truck for almost a year now as well as a rally car...problem solved! How often does Tower Hobbies change their prices? I noticed that the Ducati truck/trailer kit was $39.99 last week and now it's back to $101.99.

Thanks guys!

Tower tends to overstock and lower prices to try to clear warehouse space, they do it periodically with many things.

Get the SUBY and SAAB of course!!! The tractor has engine detail. And the interior is well detailed. The trailer...well..you build it up as a box. The sides and roof are split into 2 ppieces each. So you have to make the seam between them smooth. I wanted to get that Mercedes tow truck some day. Just no room at all anymore. But ye. THE SUBY TRUCK TRAILER AND WRC!!!!!

General Motors owns Chevrolet, do you call them Chevy's or GM's?

A Chevy is a Chevy, but everything else is a GM. Until they go bankrupt and the Germans or Japanese buy them anyway....
