the GTR is still ugly.
And technically... the 3000GT is just the nameplate put on the american version. The Car is a GTO through and through. Rebadged only to avoid confusion with the american GTO.
And since the Skyline isn't actually an american vehicle wouldn't it only be logical to compare it with the GTO? I mean I could just as easily put 13b's and lighten up a vr4 then it could still be considered "Stock" as those are MR specs sooo.... Come on Do we really have to do this?

The point is the MR is quick... And Could quite possibly beat a skyline. remember the original guy only asked between a skyline and a 3000gt so we gould take the skyline of 40 years prior and compare it. You'd have problems with that though wouldn't you?

dude the MR is quick and is a top competitor with the GTR in the 1/4 mile. this is true!!! but he asked between a 3000gt and a skyline so we assumed VR4 vs. GTR...

yes, technically a VR4 is a GTO, but thats not what we were discussing. we are discussing the best 3000gt, which is the VR4 vs. the skyline. the best GTO is the MR but the guy (i dont think) wanted to compare the GTO MR and a GTR.

and yes i would have a problem with you comparing a 1997 GTO MR to a 1972 nissan skyline...

dont get offensive here, i was just saying that a VR4 does not compete with a GTR. i never said that the MR doesnt...

bottom line:

GTR vs VR4 ---- GTR takes the cake

GTR vs GTO MR ----- damn good race, driver's race....

GTR vs SL -----> GTR

SL vs. GTS ----> GTS...unless its the R32 which the SL MIGHT take...

VR4 vs. GTS -----> VR4

GTO TT vs VR4---->drivers race

stealth TT vs. VR4 ---->driver's race

etc. etc. etc....did i miss any??? that should just about cover all skylines and 3000gt's in the 90's....

and i do agree with you on one thing, the GTR is not the best looking car but that is totally opinionated and does not matter. plus, i dont think nissan designed the car to be pretty, especially when they already had their grand touring car debuted.

you sound very defensive in your posts, im not trying to bust anyone out here. i was just stating with facts and logic to back it up, that the VR4 does not compete with the GTR....not saying its a bad car. just saying its not quite on the GTR level. hence why mitsubishi came out with an GTO MR...

Re: 3000GT/Skyline battle?

you saying that the GTO MR is not the 3000gt is like saying the evo-8 mr is not a evo. its the same car just the upgraded faster version like the Z06 to the vette

GTO and 3000gt=same thing

is a Z06 not a vette? it really is the same thing.

above you put gto vs 3kgt drivers race thats like saying 3000gt vs 3000gt. it could not have the gto badge here because the name was already takin. the car is the same

there's a guy on here with a GTO in australia i beleive

its literally the same car diff name.

yes i know, i must have not have been clear, with my sarcasm, enough with my huge smiley face.

and as for me just listing GTO-TT vs. VR4, that was once again just me being sarcastic...come on guys, its over. i know a GTO is technically a 3000gt, but then again someone may view it as not the same car...but me personally i could care less. i just wanted to argue the point that a VR4 and a GTR will not be a very quality race...

so to sum it all up...
GTR vs. VR4 ----> no questions

GTR vs. MR----> alot of questions, damn good race!!!

where is the love?!?!!? merry christmas y'all!!!!!

but in that video, we watched a GTO MR!!! which is a totally different car than the GTO-TT/3000GT-VR4, the way i understand it is that the MR is lighter, due to a lack of the luxury features that are in the standard VR4/TT. it also generates quite a bit more power, not to mention other things that probably make it a little faster and a lot more race prepped.

come on guys, just give up. i won!!!
The MR does not make any more power than a stock GTO. Its all about weight there.

Re: 3000GT/Skyline battle?

so which model of the GTO has been lightened and comes with 13b turbos? This started out as skyline vs. 3000gt but there are a lot of things to consider which you guys have already covered most of. We here in America don't see a lot of skylines at all as they were never really sold in america.
I think we're best off just leaving this as a drivers race and letting it stay as that.

None. The 13G turbos were only available on Euro spec 3000gt's.

Re: 3000GT/Skyline battle?

You got it. We had some of the UKGTO members on 3si and they all said that they dont know why but not all Euro spec 3000's come with 13g's, but they were the only ones available with them.

Merry christmas to all

A stock GT-R R32 ran 13s flat in Cold weather

Stock GT-R R33 and stock GTO with Japanese Spec , It's not MR and it weighs 1680kg

a stock GT-R 34 V SPEC 2 ran 12.9 and I've took this info from the race
between GT-R V SPEC 2 vs NSX type R ..
