Nissan Altima Engine oil color BLACK??
Dear All,
I have Nissan Altima 2005 standard manual. I changed my car's engine oil, after 1600 km it became black. I thought I put a wrong oil So I changed it again 4 days before. But my engine oil is again black. What is wrong with the engine? Whereas drive, pickup, speed, etc working fine. What could be the possible problem? why engine oil is going to be black in 4 DAYS only Waiting for ur responses. Regards, MAK |

Re: Nissan Altima Engine oil color BLACK??
Probably nothing. A majority of vehicles will have this happen right after an oil change.

195000 km. I have just changed the clutch & pressure plate.
There is no problem in driving. No heating problem as well. But engine oil color seems black. |

Re: Nissan Altima Engine oil color BLACK??
anserkhan, oil that turns black shouldn't be normal, usually when it turns black that fast means you are getting combustion gases going past you rings. My guess would be you have some stuck rings. I bought 4 bottles of the product Auto-RX, I haven't had a chance to use it yet but I would think it would be a good product to try. Take a look at the web site (http://www.auto-rx.com/ which is the only place you can purchase it) and see what you think and give it a try if you want to. FYI I have nothing to do with the product other than hoping it works for an oil leak on my daughters 98 Olds Aurora. If you get a chance post you results. Good Luck

Re: Nissan Altima Engine oil color BLACK??
The Oil turns black simply due to carbon (byproduct of combussion) and dirt. A good oil filter will keep some of the dirt at bay, but the carbon buildup is inevitable.
Don't worry about it.

If I changed my oil and it was black in 4 days I would be worried.
