well i asked a guy that is selling his MR GTO.
http://www.carsales.com.au/pls/carsales/!cs_content.private_vehicle?vehicle_id=157790&curr ent_rec=6&total_rec=7&sort_type=&make_id=3&model_i d=3924&state_id=-1&search_distance=25 and he said: "Essentially the MR is the racing spec version of the GTO family and is very rare in Australia. Most of the difference is in the handling, largely related to the suspension. The engine is essentially the same, but you will probably never get to test its limits. " He may not have known what turbos he had on there though.

ehh...i really dont care anymore. nobody knows for sure so...who cares? all as i know there are were no GTO's/MR's produced over here!!! its probably the same as with the euro spec VR4's/GTO's, mitsubishi decided that people shouldnt know what they have in there car and they must guess.
and i know MR doesnt mean greatest thing ever, but it usually means best performer that mitsubishi offers...

i would have to say the vr4 or the gto MR wont beat a skyline GTR never and if the skyline is a V SPEC or V SPEC II it would tear apart the GTO MR in the 1/4 mile i have some best motoring videos in which the GTO MR is bateling the skyline and the GTO wins but when it comes to the GT R v spec the GT R wins over the GTO MR and the GTR im talking about is the R33 an R34 will kill a GTO MR no doubt and talking about the R32 it would kill a GTO cause the GTO MR didnt came out until 94 til 01 in japan and asia

ok i think its time i finally put in my two cents- an r-34 v spec 2 or not will lose!!!!!!!!!!!!- i think fast and furious has brainwashed all of you. Now i go to the track alot, and i have a gt and a 911, and ive seen a stock vr-4 at the track beat a r-34, but r-32 i am not so sure. And when i went to japan in my old days( liek twice, i went because i had the chance,i waste all my money on my 911- car wax, etc...), ive seen a 2nd gen stock gto beat a v spec 2- sorry but this is the truth- those japanese guys have run very low 13's and high 12's- im not quite sure at what they launch at though- if you were to put two good drivers into both cars, you would have the gto come out on top, as for the mr edition, those things are rare enough but allow me to explain the differences from a vr-4
bbs alloys no ecs solid rear spoiler 5 speed rear diff 5 speed tranny inside is that of a base model and yes there are 13 g's, but they run around the same boost only minor weight reduction other than that how do i know this?- i went to tokyo- for a day- and i was lucky enough to see one- parked, and i aske dthe driver some questions if it were a tuned up race- gtr obviously but stock for stock- in real life not some fast and furious bull- ive seen more vr-4 beat skylines than i have the other way around. and ive asked a lot of people, yes a lot of people, which skyline was the best- everyone says the r 33 was the best, while the r-34 was overrated, and the r 32 was close with the r-33. |

Re: 3000GT/Skyline battle?
No
the reason is gearing, the j-spec cars have different gearing. the mr is a stripped cheep version of the TT, but only weight slightly less. it has nothing to do with "pro" drivers over there, vs "real" drivers over here. what happens with you change the rear end on a camaro from 3.83 gears to 4:10 gears, it gets faster. Ditto for just about every car until you get to rediculous amounts of power.

Well I think everybody has thrown in their 2 cents and some more by now, so I'm going to close this thread.
